I have been teaching the piano for the past 20 years and specialise in a range of musical styles including classical, contemporary, film and video game soundtracks. I teach the AMEB standard piano syllabus as well as the Piano for Leisure series from Preliminary to Licentiate levels. If exams are not your thing and you'd like to play for fun that is perfectly ok. I'd love to help you learn that piece you've always dreamt of playing.

My teaching style has an emphasis on musicality and building a strong technical foundation with roots in the Russian piano tradition which utilises arm weight to produce an effortless, Bel Canto (beautiful song) sound.

For beginner students I introduce the concepts of musical notation, rhythm, pitch, improvisation and memorisation from the early stages.

It goes without saying that students that come to their lessons well prepared will get the most out of their lesson time. Students should aim to practice daily or at a minimum of 4 to 5 days a week for the appropriate amount of time based on skill level.

Unlike many large music schools that employ multiple teachers, having my own private studio allows me to work closely with my students. This way I am able to carefully track and monitor progress while maintaining a high level of playing. I create a personalized practice schedule designed to help students improve and become better, well rounded musicians. This may include help with sight reading, aural tests, technique and memorization. In my lessons I demonstrate at the piano and provide immediate feedback and advice to students to help them stay motivated, focused and above all inspired to make music.
